I don't like the idea of re-aligning divisions, it isn't consistent. However, draft position the following year means little when we're all guaranteed to be keeping the TOP players in each position. For example, was there any player available in this past draft that could make my team competitive with a keeper like Adrian Peterson, Michael Turner, or Drew Brees?

A schedule of 1 head-to-head per team could be balanced based on the previous seasons standings, similar to the way they do it in the NFL with strength of schedule (best team gets the hardest schedule based on the W/L from the previous season). For teams stuck in a "harder" conference, they have the chance of playing historically weaker teams and possibly improving their ranking for the Wild Card.

However, I have no delusion that unless I'm crafty enough with trades I will never get a player who can produce the same weekly average of a top 3 QB/RB/WR. Without such a position the "keeper" slot will continue to dilute the draft pool, and poor performances will only be rewarded with the best of the available picks, but not the best in the league.

But I agree with maximus that it is far too early to determine weak and strong divisions at this point. Sure, my division has an undefeated team and I'm in 11th place...but that doesn't mean things can't change (one broken ankle or torn acl and my team could be leading the division). That's the challenge, in my opinion.
I agree with what ranallo says, no re-aligning of divison. It is not a good idea. Playing in an keeper league means long term commitment, means divison rivalries you do not want to miss, means tradition. KEEP THE TRADITIONS ALIVE!

And ... if all of your keepers remain top players the next season you are very lucky. Anyone can get hurt or loose the starting spot or play much worse than expected. See Brady last season, see Moss, see ...

I think it is most important to identify sleepers and potentials upfront (veteran or rookies). It is lots of fun if you guessed right! That is why consider draft position as the best leverage to compensate between better and worse teams.
Hi there, I’m not agreeing!
From my view there is a clear advantage or disadvantage in terms of the belonging to a certain division.

I’m a fantasy rookie in my 2nd year and my initial situation in the 1st year was not that good due to autopilot drafting and draft position. I simply didn’t know anything about fantasy.
In course of my 1st year I have learned a lot about football and fantasy. As I have won the 1st veteran draft position I could improve my team a lot. Look, I scored the 2nd best points in the league but at week 5 I was the last in my division.

From my point of view my division is the most competitive one in the league. All of us know Uwe has probably the best team in the league due to his enviable draft position and for sure also due to his experience and his fantasy activity. I mean the activity is very important for the whole season, checking out every weak which FA could be an improvement for the current roster, checking news and and and. If you don’t want to rely only on Fabianos advice there is a lot to do for a manager. That’s the same regarding Chris. He did an incredible job after taking over the Warendorf Diamonds and he is very active manager as well!

I don’t want to blame other teams and divisions but the activity of the manager has a significant impact on the team performance during the season. Unfortunately there are teams in the league who not even can reply trade requests.

At the end I think it would be fair to re-align the division each season. Well, as Chris mentioned I could see it as a challenge or something like that but this wouldn’t make it easier to reach the playoffs Cry …So why not change after one season? :dafür:
Ahoi, Rene
:buttrock:
Okay, here is my opinion.

I don't like the idea to resort the divisions according to last years strength. Next year is very different, strength of last year don't count a penny.

BUT: In general I like the idea of resorting the division by using e.g. the random generator or whatever.

Why:

1. I know exactly three persons in our league in person. And guess, I am not in a divison with any of them. Would like to change this because it is even more fun to play twice a season against the person you are watching the games with nearly every sunday.

2. I don't give much on rivalries. I know this is a keeper league and I am not planning to quit playing in this league for the next ten years as long as nothing major changes. But even after ten years there won't be such rivalres like the Broncos/Chargers, Cowboys/Eagles or Packers/Vigings ones in the real NFL. Those things needed decades to grow. And they were based on the fact that a team needed to land before the other because it was hard (if even possible) to get playoff seed without winning the division.
In our league, winning the division is nice but there are more playoff teams then non-playoff teams, so we will never have these rivalries.

3. It's another great subject to talk about during the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeendless fantasy offseason ;-)
