Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com Iowa State QB Seneca Wallace was asked to do some wide receiver workouts Sunday at the NFL Combine and he refused staying with his QB drills only. At just 5-feet-11 1/2, Wallace simply isn't tall enough to play quarterback at the NFL level. He ran a 4.53 40-yard dash. Teams might never know now if Wallace could have helped them as a receiver or return man because he was too stubborn to try those drills. "He's got to accept the fact that he probably can't play quarterback (in the NFL)," said Houston Texans GM Charley Casserly. "But he has not accepted that yet. I think he's getting some bad advice."

Gil Brandt reports for NFL.com Utah State WR Kevin Curtis (5-foot-11 1/8, 189 pounds) ran in the 4.4s at the NFL Combine on Sunday.

Don Pierson reports for the Chicago Tribune all but California QB Kyle Boller and injured Marshall QB Bryon Leftwich threw Sunday at the NFL Combine in front of coaches and scouts from all 32 teams. "No one popped off the charts," one scout said. "(Rex) Grossman looked good but didn't make every throw. I don't know why Boller didn't throw. (Chris) Simms has all the tools but measures his throws, trying to be too perfect. (Dave) Ragone had a nice day. It would be hard for Cincinnati (which drafts first) not to take Palmer." Grossman and Boller have heard the buzz about Green Bay, and neither is nervous about becoming QB Brett Favre's potential successor.

Virginia WR Billy McMullen, Jr. (elbow) didn’t run at the NFL Combine this week because he’s still recovering from a dislocated elbow. He said he had previously been timed in the 4.4 to 4.45 range in the 40-yard dash. McMullen said he measured in at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds. He injured his elbow during his school’s bowl game and said plans to be ready to run by Virginia’s Pro Day on March 12th. Doctors told him his elbow is coming along well.

Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly said Cal QB Kyle Boller, who didn’t go through the full workout at the NFL Combine, impressed him with his speed during drills at the Combine. "That was a positive for him," Casserly said. "I was disappointed he didn’t work out. I’m disappointed because I think he could have helped himself today. I really do, because he would have exposed himself to more people." He did go on to note that Boller was able to give everyone a good look at him during the Senior Bowl.

Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly spoke about USC QB Carson Palmer on Sunday. "He’s an outstanding quarterback," Casserly said regarding Palmer’s physical ability. "If he’s the first pick in the draft he certainly deserves to be in the first pick of the draft if you take a quarterback there."

Updating earlier stories, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports USC QB Carson Palmer was rather disappointed with his performance during the passing drills at the combine. “I missed a couple of balls,” he said. “It went all right. I felt good on everything. I just expect to be perfect on all of them, and I wasn’t.”

Houston Texans GM Charley Casserly spoke highly of USC RB Justin Fargas on Sunday. Fargas, during his workout at the NFL Combine, was clocked at 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash. "This guy ran a 4.39," Casserly said. "We didn’t think he could run that fast. There’s a lot of re-thinking on Justin Fargas. He’s got a heart, he’s tough, he was productive ... now, I don’t know, we all have to weigh the injury history on him." With such a weak running back class, Casserly noted the other backs should have made every effort to work out, too. "Justin Fargas took the bull by the horns."

The Daily Southtown reports the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers were among the teams known to have interviewed Texas QB Chris Simms at the NFL Combine.

Bob LeGere of the Chicago Daily Herald reports Colorado RB Chris Brown doesn't believe his vertical running style will affect his performance in the pros. Critics say that his style will lead to a short-lived career. "I don't believe it's a disadvantage," said Brown, who is expected to be one of the first running backs drafted this year. "I can see a lot of the field that way, and I get down when it's time to hit."

Updating previous stories, Mike Mulligan of the Chicago Sun Times reports the Chicago Bears have contacted Florida QB Rex Grossman about the teams quarterback situation. "They told me they are going to draft a quarterback for sure on the first day [April 26],'' he said. "Whether it's me or not, who knows? They have some old guys, so they're looking for a quarterback.''
