Updating previous stories, John Mullin of ChicagoSports.com, reports the Chicago Bears have two prominent names on top of their quarterback wish list. Arizona Cardinals QB Jake Plummer is no secret, but sources close to the team say St. Louis Rams QB Kurt Warner is on top of that list. Signing either player would be difficult for the Bears to achieve. Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kordell Stewart is reportedly lower on the list than Warner and Plummer are.

Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese said on Saturday that he believes RB Eddie George’s toe issues are behind him. “I don’t think there are toe issues,” Reese said. “I think we saw him come on.” When asked about George’s yards-per-carry being down, Reese didn’t believe that to be an issue. “That’s not all his problem. He’s never been a great yards-per-carry-guy. He’s not the type of guy that’s going to go 50 with it,” Reese said while noting that George is the type of back that will go for 15-yards on every fifth to seventh carry and the team’s running game will be rolling. Reese said he thinks the team can still count on George for 25-30 carries per game if they need him to.

Updating previous reports, Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese said on Saturday at the NFL Combine that the team is talking about TE Frank Wycheck about redoing his contract. He said the team would hope to have him back again next year.

ein paar news vom besten team der welt:

Miami Dolphins senior vice president of football operations Rick Spielman said on Saturday that the team is looking to bolster the receiver area on the team through the NFL Draft. “It’ll be something that we’ll look at in the draft,” Spielman said. However, he isn’t sure whether they’ll be looking at a receiver on the first or second day of the draft due to possible changes on roster before the draft. “It’s hard to predict because you don’t know what you’ll have going into the draft.” Spielman said he feels the receiver class this year is rather deep. The team is open to bigger or smaller receivers, as the bigger wide outs would serve on the outside while a bigger or smaller receiver could be used in the slot position. “Norv likes the bigger type receivers on the outside,” Spielman said.

Updating previous reports, Miami Dolphins senior vice president of football operations Rick Spielman confirmed the team has talked with WR James McKnight’s agent about restructuring his contact.

Miami Dolphins senior vice president of football operations Rick Spielman spoke highly of backup QB Sage Rosenfels on Saturday. Rosenfels, who was acquired via a trade with Washington last year, will be entering his first off-season with the Dolphins. “We think Sage has a bright future in Norv’s [Turner] system,” Spielman said. “This will be a big off-season for him.”

Miami Dolphins senior vice president of football operations Rick Spielman said Saturday that WR/KR Sam Simmons has come along well since being drafted a year ago and has a legitimate chance at winning the team’s punt return duties this year. While Simmons has improved, Spielman said his potential wouldn’t stop the team from going after more receivers during the NFL Draft.

Miami Dolphins senior vice president of football operations Rick Spielman confirmed the team is going to tender exclusive rights free agent RB Robert Edwards. “We think he is even going to get better because that was his first year playing after being out for so long. We think he’s going to have a legitimate to even take the next step and be even closer to what he was,” Spielman said Saturday. “I think it’ll be a competition (between Edwards and Travis Minor for the No. 2 role).”

Updating previous reports, the Arizona Republic reports the Arizona Cardinals would welcome back RB Thomas Jones, if he would like to come back to the team. “We will obviously have to work through some issues we’ve had in the off-season with him, get a feel for his attitude and make a decision whether or not Thomas is in a positive (mindset) emotionally and psychologically to help us win next year,” said Rod Graves, Cardinals vice president of football operations. “If not, we’ll make a decision at that point.”

The two sides aren’t close to reaching a deal, though, and Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said the team will not overpay for Peete. “We have an idea of what we’re willing to pay and we’ll go ahead and try to get it done at that price,” Hurney said. “If not, then you look at your other options.”
