Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com the Carolina Panthers are close to re-signing QB Rodney Peete to a three-year, $4 million contract that includes a signing bonus of $500,000. In addition to the signing bonus, Peete will collect a roster bonus of $500,000 and the base salaries for each of the three years of the new deal are $1 million. The contract figures to also include some "makeable" incentives.

Coach Bill Parcells really isn't as keen on Davis as many outsiders have suggested. "(Parcells) isn't going to get into the emotional deal with (the Redskins)," said one source.
