The Denver Broncos confirmed Wednesday they have given QB Brian Griese permission to begin exploring trade talks with other NFL teams, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced Wednesday. The Broncos sent a letter granting permission to Griese's agent, Ralph Cindrich, and the team also informed the NFL the permission has been given.

The Denver Broncos have re-signed CB Jimmy Spencer. He had been released on Tuesday.

Deese said Wednesday he was told that the 49ers will pay him a $300,000 roster bonus Friday in order to keep him on the roster until June when they plan to release him. He was willing to restructure his contract for no net gain, but the team didn't ask ask. "It shocked me when they told me,'' Deese said. "For what I've been for this team the last few years it shocks me that this is what they want to do for me. I always wanted to be a 49er."

According to ESPN.com, Dallas Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith is expected to be released Thursday. Owner Jerry Jones spent Wednesday with Smith attending several functions in south Texas. It is believed that Jones attempted to pursuade Smith to consider retirement. Jones and Smith were scheduled to return to Dallas late Wednesday evening.

Parcells expects all players to work out exclusively at Valley Ranch, beginning next month. In the past, Galloway has worked out in Ohio.

The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals free agent WR David Boston is talking to agent Mitch Frankel about his future possibilities. He will spend the next few days evaluating his free agency options, which include returning to Arizona. Boston flew to Florida on Wednesday to meet with Frankel. The Cardinals made Boston a contract offer that would put him among the highest-paid receivers in the NFL, team officials have said.
