Jay Glazer, of SportsLine.com, reports Kansas City Chiefs QB Trent Green has agreed to a new seven-year deal that the quarterback says totals $50 million to remain with the Chiefs. Had they not worked out a new deal, they would have released him rather than pay him an $8 million roster bonus. Green is hopeful the new deal will make him a member of the Chiefs for life. He said they’re giving him an $11.25 million signing bonus and the deal is structured to help the team salary cap-wise. Green will likely see $25 million over the first four-years of the deal.
ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli reports the Buffalo Bills have released TE Jay Riemersma. By releasing him, the team created $3.5 million in salary cap space. They’ll still be hit with $1.372 million in “dead money” against the cap this year, which is the remaining segment of his previous signing bonus.
