Tennessee Titans general manager Floyd Reese said on Saturday afternoon at the NFL Combine that the team still wants to re-sign QB Neil O’Donnell. However, if the team isn’t able to, they would not be against going with a younger backup to starter Steve McNair. Reese noted that in McNair’s earlier years they needed a veteran backup because the backup QB wouldn’t get much practice time. In recent years, McNair hasn’t practiced much during the week so the backup QB sees plenty of reps during the week.

Updating previous reports, the Kansas City Star reports the Kansas City Chiefs have not made giving RB Priest Holmes a new contract a priority of theirs. They first have to address their own salary cap situation before free agency begins next week, then they have to work on improving their defense through free agency and the NFL Draft. “You just can’t automatically start upgrading contracts,” said Chiefs head coach Dick Vermeil. “We can only do what we can do within the structure of our salary cap.”

Updating previous stories, the Kansas City Star reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Priest Holmes is not happy with his current contract. "I deserve to get paid more," he says. Holmes also stated he would sit out the entire season if that's what it takes to get paid what he feels he is entitled to. "I'm prepared to do what I have to do," he added.

Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com reports the Detroit Lions once again contacted former Lions RB Barry Sanders, attempting to lure him back to the playing field. Once again, Barry declined. Detroit, who still retains Sanders contractual rights, has contacted him every year since he retired abruptly four seasons ago. "He might consider the Lions but only as one of 32 teams, not the only team for which he could come back," said a source close to Sanders. "He wants options and, at this point, it doesn't look like he is going to get any other choices."
